Serena Williams “Triumphant” at New York Fashion Week
Although Serena Williams may have lost in the US Open and missed her calendar Grand Slam, she won big yesterday at New York Fashion Week. The 2015 WTA points leader’s fall 2015 “Signature Statement” HSN line was very well received at her afternoon show.
The tennis ace and designer’s show was heralded as “triumphant” by the Daily Mail and a “smash hit” by André Leon Talley. Much of the post-show attention has focused on Ms. Williams’ PTA with her rumored boyfriend Drake, the Anna Wintour/Drake seat-pairing, and the fact that the fringe seen on many of the outfits is all the rage this fall.
However, at Super Hair Factory we were (unsurprisingly) most interested in Serena’s yaki straight hairstyle. While she has been sporting a more natural deep wave or Brazilian wave recently, the six-time US Open champion opted to straighten her curls for her collection’s unveiling.
Serena’s linear locks were a great choice for the show, as they accentuated the fringes of her own outfit.
